–1– THE η(1405), η(1475), f1(1420), AND f1(1510)

The first observation of the η(1440) was made in pp annihilation at rest into η(1440)π+π−, η(1440) → KKπ [1]. This state was reported to decay through a0(980)π and K ∗(892)K with roughly equal contributions. The η(1440) was also observed in radiative J/ψ(1S) decay into KKπ [2–4] and γρ [5]. There is now evidence for the existence of two pseudoscalars in this mass region, the η(1405) and η(1475)...

Bes Results on J/ψ Decays and Charmonium Transitions

Results are reported based on samples of 58 million J/ψ and 14 million ψ(2S) decays obtained by the BESII experiment. Improved branching fraction measurements are determined, including branching fractions for J/ψ → πππ, ψ(2S) → πJ/ψ, ηJ/ψ, ππJ/ψ, anything J/ψ, and ψ(2S) → γχc1, γχc2 → γγJ/ψ. The decay J/ψ → ωππ is studied. At low ππ mass, a large, broad peak due to the σ is observed, and its po...

BES Collaboration has recently observed an enhancement near the ωφ threshold in the double OZI suppressed decay J/ψ → γωφ. This ωφ enhancement is probably due to a new J = 0 X(1812) state. We discuss a possible assignment that the X(1812) is a 1/ √ 2(uū + dd̄)g (or ss̄g) hybrid meson. We suggest further measurements to test these assignments. Based on a sample of 5.8 × 10 J/ψ events, very recentl...

Covariant tensor formalism for partial wave analyses of ψ decays into γBB̄

Recently BES2 collaboration observed an enhancement near the pp̄ invariant mass spectrum. Using the covariant tensor formalism, here we provide theoretical formulae for the partial wave analysis (PWA) of the ψ radiative decay channels ψ → γpp̄, γΛΛ̄, γΣΣ̄, γΞΞ̄ . By performing the Monte Carlo simulation, we give the angular distributions for the photon and proton in the process of J/ψ → γpp̄, which m...

Recent data on inclusive B decays into charmonium states taken by the CLEO collaboration suggest that a sizeable fraction of the nonleptonic decays may consist of the J/ψ Λ p three body final state, corresponding to a distinct enhancement in the inclusive J/ψ momentum distribution. The kinematical boundary of this structure corresponds to the case where the J/ψ recoils nearly monoenergetically ...

Glueball Interpretation of ξ(2230)

On the basis of the results of ξ(2230) → π+π−, pp̄ and KK̄, measured by the BES Collaboration in radiative J/ψ decays, combined with the upper limit of Br(ξ → pp̄)Br(ξ → KK̄), measured by PS185 experiment, we argue that the distinctive properties of ξ(2230), the flavor-symmetric decays and the narrow partial decay widths to ππ andKK̄ as well as its copious production in radiative J/ψ decay, would st...
